Where can I go?

Shizhao Longtou Leisure Farm’s forest area has a strange tree that is shaped like a dragon, and this is where the name “dragon head” comes from. There are leisure trails and attractive natural scenery to be enjoyed in the Longtou area.


Longtou has an elevation of 1280 meters and the gorge at the side of the road is often filled with clouds and mist in the afternoon, which is the Alishan Highway’s renowned cloud sea. On the other side of the road the slope is covered in makino bamboo. The area is moist and cool, suitable for growing high mountain vegetables, and cabbages, high mountain celery, shitaki mushrooms etc are grown here. There are also tea plantations; the tea produced retains its flavor well when brewed because of the cool temperature and is called “Alishan tea.” Tea lovers should consider paying a visit to spend a cultured hour or three enjoying the local tea.

Longding Trail

The entrance is at the 57.5 K point on Provincial Highway 18, next to the Meiyuan Hotel. It is a leisure trail that is around 700 meters long and takes around 40 minutes to walk there and back. The trail is lined by moso bamboo and has three wooden pavilions for resting.
