Limei Refuge Trail connects the Lijia Tribe and Shanmei Tribe of Alishan and served as a connecting road for the Tsou people in the past. During the Japanese occupation period, Limei Trail was built and this old trail was abandoned. In 2009, after Typhoon Morakot destroyed Limei Trail, tribal people realized that the old trail can be used for emergency and therefore asked for it to be renovated. The 2.1km-long, renovated old trail was launched in 2013 and because of its purpose is named “Limei Refuge Trail.
