Known as the earliest forestry village in Taiwan, the Park was primarily constructed using Taiwan red cypress and Fuzhou cedar. It has successfully integrated elements of "forestry culture", "craftsmanship design" and "cultural creativity" to create a cultural and creative park centered around the theme of "forest culture and creativity."

Chiayi's timber industry once made Chiayi City the country's center for timber production and distribution, earning it the title of "The City of Wood." Although its glory has faded, the Park has preserved the factory buildings' structures and successfully transformed the site into a unique tourist attraction that allows visitors to explore the timber culture and industry.

Constructed using the cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction method, it was originally a warehouse for tobacco and alcohol finished goods. The hall of the building is supported by CLT beams and columns. This choice of building materials not only contributes to environmental preservation and architectural renovation, but also reflects the urban history and characteristics of Chiayi as "The City of Wood".

It is the country's only comprehensive museum named after the city. Guided by the vision of "Chiayi people caring about local happenings and people from other areas exploring Chiayi", the museum aims to promote, exhibit, collect, study, and showcase the local culture and characteristics of Chiayi.
