Alishan National Scenic Area Administration of Tourism Bureau, MOTC (hereinafter the Alishan Administration) has been holding the Four Seasons of Alishan Tea Tour since 2016. Combining natural landscape features such as the creek, waterfall, bamboo forest, forests, and earth; and ecological elements of the 24 solar terms including the cherry blossoms, wisteria blossoms, plum blossoms, fireflies, maple leaves, and cattle egrets; as well as featured resources such as ancient houses, local culture, and history, tea experts from local communities curate special tea tasting experiences in the natural atmosphere. This event has been popular among tourists for many years. This year, under the pandemic, the Spring tea party was held online via online media and was well received. On September 11, 2021, the Autumn tea party was also held online and upgraded to allow the public to participate from home and share the tea tasting experience in Alishan.

The online tea party, via video, guided the audience through the experience of tasting tea in the bamboo forest in the mountains and by the creeks and waterfalls. Guided by Spanish and Jordanian residents in Taiwan, the audience could participate in the tea parties at Ruili bamboo forest and Taixing waterfall, enjoy the welcome ceremony, watch the black tea art and tea-drinking demonstration, listen to guzheng music, taste Alishan tea and special desserts, and experience the whole event virtually which shapes the new conception of Alishan’s tea culture. Live broadcast of demonstration by tea experts and local participants rolling the tea, using rain sticks, handpicking tea, roasting tea in bamboo tubes, and making creative tea drinks inspired by the 24 solar terms allowed the public to experience the event as if they were personally there. Finally, black tea drinking and tea art demonstration, combined with handcraft DIY lessons, invites the audience to taste the tea together guided by the flavor wheel.
