Introduction
When visiting Alishan, take a leisurely journey into the Veoveoana Village to discover the unique heritage of the Tsou people. Dedicated to preserving, inheriting, and promoting Tsou culture, the Tsou Veoveoana Cultural and Creative Park brings together traditional dance performances, guided tours, hands-on DIY workshops, specialty dining, and creative cultural products in an inviting space for learning and relaxation.
"Veoveoana" translates to "sika deer hunting ground" in the Tsou language. It captures the ancestral wisdom of living in harmony with nature and embodies generations of cultural memories. Through traditional tribal houses, cultural exhibits, and the Yokeoasu Theater, the park brings Tsou history, sacred rituals, traditional crafts, and daily life to light, allowing visitors to feel the vibrant charm of Alishan’s Indigenous culture through storytelling.
Interactive Experiences
Beyond the exhibits, the park offers a rich array of hands-on activities. Visitors can join guided cultural tours, try traditional archery, interact with friendly sika deer, and take part in Indigenous DIY craft workshops. Seasonal activities and special courses are also hosted periodically, making it ideal for families and group tours. Don't forget to sample authentic indigenous cuisine made with fresh local ingredients for an immersive culinary experience.
Cultural Performances
The Yokeoasu Theater regularly hosts traditional Tsou song and dance performances. Led by local villagers, these shows bring tribal history, festive rituals, and everyday life to the stage through captivating music, movement, and commentary. Blending traditions with modern theatrical expression, every performance is a moving journey into Tsou heritage. Visitors are encouraged to check the daily performance schedule before arrival.
