Shitzulu Station is one of the few Alishan Forest stations that provide good food and fun.
It is now the highest point among all the stations of the main Alishan Forest Railway after the resumption of the train service.
Introduction
Some described the resumption of the train services of Alishan Forest Railway in 2017 like regaining something that was long lost. After the flood caused by Typhoon Morakot, the train horn sound has finally been heard again in the Shitzulu community after 8 long years. Shitzulu Station is located at the southern edge of Shitzulu Village, Alishan Township. Formerly, it was a mountain pass for transportation between the tribes in the south and north. In the olden days, it was an intermediate stop on the way to Alishan. It was also an intersection of the ancient trails to Laiji, Dabang, and Te Fuye tribes. After the railway was completed, it became the center for transportation between the north and south in Alishan Township.
Shitzulu Village, a small mountain village enshrouded in mist, used to be mostly inhabited by lumberjacks. Currently, apart from local residents, there young people are also moving back to the village. The locals live right next to the railway. In recent years, to provide visitors with better experiences, the residents have used the local bamboos and wood materials to decorate the vender booths. They have also developed cuisines and snacks characteristic of the community to welcome visitors.
