Fall and Winter are the best time for watching the sea of clouds. In the Alishan Forest Recreational Area, the best spots are the observation deck next to Alishan Museum, Alishan House, Alishan Railway Station, Zhaoping Park, Ogasawara Mountain Observation Deck, and the transit station at the entrance. Xiding at about halfway on Alishan Highway, Dingshizhuo, and the 89.5-km marker towards Zizhong are also worth visiting.
