Along the Longzaiwei Trail, admire beautiful terraced tea plantations.
From late April to mid May fireflies light up the mountain valleys. This area abounds in tea leaves and the fragrance of tea, with about 622 hectares of tea planted. The main types are Jin Xuan and Qing Xin oolong teas. Jelly figs, bamboo shoots, and plums are also produced.
This is a loop trail through thick forest suited to the whole family.

This is a breathtaking hiking trail that offers complete physical and mental relaxation. The trail accesses are located at the 10.5 km and 9.5 km marks of County Road 169, both reachable via short connecting service roads. Along the way, the rolling mountains of Taihe and the cascading terraced tea plantations intertwine to form a harmonious, picture-perfect landscape.

It is recommended to start from the higher southern trailhead at the 10.5 km mark. As you step onto the trail, vast tea plantations stretch out before your eyes, while the elevated vantage point surrounded by soaring peaks offers a sweeping, exhilarating view.

Wandering along the paths through the tea farms, Mount Taihe Xiangshan stands out as a prominent landmark on your left, while the majestic Mount Datashan rises proudly opposite, standing guard over the forest. As the trail winds gently downhill, the elevation gradually decreases. A viewing pavilion perched in the valley brings an immersive, awe-inspiring view of the surrounding mountains, evoking a profound sense of being embraced by nature. The agricultural monorail tracks crossing the path—used for transporting materials and crops—signal the steep slope that lies ahead.

Continuing downward, the edges of the tea fields transition into a dense forest of cedars and broadleaf trees. The variety of local produce expands to include sweet persimmons, peaches, plums, jelly figs (Aiyu), and Taiwan mountain bamboo shoots (Jiaohao bamboo) within the bamboo groves. Moving deeper into the undulating cedar forest, hikers can fully immerse themselves in a soothing forest bath rich in phytoncides, surrounded by vibrant native flora and understory shrubs thriving with life.

Emerging from the cedar woods, pass through a local village and follow the signage along the service road to reach the magnificent "Grand Autumn Maple Tree" (Bischofia javanica). It is truly remarkable that this ancient tree was preserved during the early pioneers' land clearing era. A short walk upstream leads to an arched bridge, offering a captivating view back toward the old maple tree and the scenic river valley. Crossing the bridge brings you to a brief, pleasant trail segment—an enjoyable addition to complete your mountain exploration.
