The five wonders of Alishan - Forest

Introduction

Alishan used to be one of the top three forestry centers of Taiwan. It was later turned into a forest recreation area. Walking on the trail surrounded by huge trees, enjoying the natural therapy of phytoncide, and listening to the birds sing. Every year during blossom seasons, the mountain will be covered by colorful flowers.

The rich forest resources of Alishan include plants from different climatic zones. Starting from the ground, you will first find tropical trees such as longan, beetle nuts, acacia, and Makino bamboo. As the altitude increases, you find warm temperate trees such as moso bamboo, high-mountain tea, and jelly fig. Going further up, you will see temperate trees such as Japanese cedar, Taiwan yellow cedar, Masters pine, Taiwania, and Taiwan red cypress.
