When the first ray of sunshine comes through the clouds, the sun leaps over the peak of the mountain. Bright light shines across the sky, announcing the start of a new day.

Due to earth’s revolution, the well-known Alishan sunrise can be observed from different locations and at different times throughout the year. Ogasawara (Xiaoliyuan) Mountain Observation Deck is the best spot here for sunrise watching. You can also take the Zhuri Sunrise Train from Alishan Railway Station or Zhaoping Station; or walk up the stairs on the sunrise trail in Zhaoping Park.
