Chukou
Introduction
Dijiou Suspension Bridge is located on the north of Chukou Bridge. After this bridge, walk up the stairs and you will find Tianchang Suspension Bridge which crosses Bazhang River Valley. Surrounded by green mountains and blue waters, Tianchang Suspension Bridge is especially impressive.
The two bridges were built in the 12th year of the Showa (1937) during the Japanese Occupation, in celebration of the birthdays of the emperor and his wife. Although visitors are many, only a few know why the bridges were built. People think that “tian chang di jiou” refers to “long-lasting love.” This gives the bridges a romantic feel.
