The Fushan Ancient Trail served historically as a vital path for residents of Leye, Laiji, and Shizi villages traveling to Dabang. Following restoration, the trail spans approximately 1,880 meters, winding through altitudes between 1,100 and 1,400 meters.

Turning off at the 68.6 km mark on the Alishan Highway (Route 18) onto an industrial road, travelers will reach the main eastern trailhead after 300 meters. This eastern stretch—formerly known as the "Danabawana" Ancient Trail—offers exceptional panoramic views overlooking the Zengwen River and the Tefuye settlement. Meanwhile, the western section, which connects to the Mihu Trail, serves as the prime highlight for ecological observation. Along the way, the path weaves through tea plantations, local settlements, and a rich canopy of bamboo groves, cedar forests, and virgin woodlands. This diverse, untouched landscape not only provides a lush haven for plant life but also attracts abundant wildlife, filling the air with a constant chorus of birdsong and insect chirps. Mid-to-low altitude birds—such as the Taiwan Barbet, Steere's Liocichla, Rufous-capped Babbler, Taiwan Yuhina, and White-eared Sibia—frequently peek out from the foliage, making it an exceptional birdwatching location.
