Given the fact that the Alishan area is a major tourist destination, there are good accommodation possibilities for visitors.
A motel is not much different from a hotel except that it has a guaranteed place to park your car and the buildings are usually (but not always) only one or two storeys high. Because downtown land is horrendously expensive, motels tend to be located in suburban areas, but almost never in rural areas. Facilities are generally good, often rivaling some of the best hotels. The first question you\'re likely to be asked when you attempt to check in is whether or not you plan to spend the night or wish to rent the room for a few hours -- short-time customers seem to make up a substantial part of the clientele.
